According to the city, property values have risen to the point an increase is warranted.  The city needs the extra revenue to fund important projects and provide a raises for some city employees.

The increase is 8.33% and is expected to cost the average homeowner around $40 more per year.

It is expected the increase to generate over $3 million dollars.  Raises for police officers, firefighters and other city employees are planned.
