It's a tradition with a lot of families.  I know for my family, we pile in the car with come hot chocolate, and take a trip around Amarillo to look at all the amazing Christmas lights.  Amarillo does a great job of decorating for Christmas.   Here's a list of some of the best places to view Christmas Lights.

The Gardens are lit up with over 400,000 lights.  Admission is free but they are accepting donations.  The Gardens are open Thursday - Sunday, November 30th through December 23rd - 6-8pm

Don't miss all sorts of lights when Center City hosts its annual Electric Light Parade.

The Drive the Lights opens on November 24th.   You drive through the area enjoying the lights.  It is open through December 30th, hours are 6-9pm Sunday - Thursday, 6p-11p Friday & Saturday.  It will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  There is a $10 per car charge to check these lights out.

Sleepy Hollow Area

The homeowners in this area usually go all out.  So add this to the map when you go looking at the lights.

Candy Cane Lane - Gainsbourough Drive

Every year almost every single house is lit up with the most amazing lights.  Best time to catch this view is on a weeknight right after it gets dark.  It is total chaos on the weekend.

Bishop Hills - December 1st - December 25th, 6:30pm - 12m

Each year Bishop Hills lights up beautifully.  You can still make the drive North just outside of town.  They will have Santa on site Friday and Saturdays,  He can be found at 11 Nottingham on those evenings.  Admission is always free but the Amarillo Lion's Club is on-site collecting monetary donations and old eyeglasses.

Make plans to stop by the Amarillo Zoo December 1st-December 23rd, 6-8pm. See thousands of sparkling holiday lights and animated light displays. Meet Rudolph, the Grinch, Frosty and other holiday characters. Kids can play holiday games, make a craft in the Santa Elves workshop or make a treat for our feather friends. Warm up with hot chocolate or other seasonal treats as you enjoy the sights and sounds of the holidays. Be sure to complete your holiday shopping at the Zootique gift cart for that special animal lover in your family. Cost is regular admission in the zoo

Townsquare Village will light up on November 24th starting at 5pm.   The Village is lit up with over 400,000 lights and they even have a light show.  You can stop by each evening and check it out.  The light shows will be on Friday, Saturday and Sunday through December at 6pm, 6:30pm, 7pm, 7:30pm, 8:30pm and 9pm.

Georgia & Hawthorne

This is one of my favorite houses.  They always have it decorated and synced to music.  The house can be found at 2418 Hawthorne Drive and you can set your radio to a FM station to hear the music.

Wolflin Area

This area is always decorated with some of the best lights.  All you have to do is just drive up and down the streets to see all the great lights.  Just start off 34th near Washington and check out all the great lights.

What are some of your favorite places to go and look at Christmas lights?
