Chris Cornell Open to Working With Mad Season Members, But Not Under Band Name

Earlier this year, Chris Cornell performed with the living members of Mad Season at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall in what would prove to be a memorable appearance. But could that one off appearance lead to something more? During a recent chat with AMNY, the vocalist revealed that he would be open to collaborating, but on one very key condition.

“I won’t be doing anything under that name because of the historical significance to it. But I’d certainly be amenable to doing stuff with those three guys, Barrett [Martin], Duff [McKagan] and Mike [McCready],” revealed Cornell. “The experience of being onstage with them and just playing a few songs was really amazing. I was really blown away. Having said that I think of it as something far in the future as all of us are slammed busy. But someday, I would love nothing more than to play with those three guys.”

Regardless of if it ever happens, one thing is clear — that Cornell loves the collaborative spirit. Earlier this year, Cornell revealed that he was open to the idea of reuniting with his one time band, Audioslave. In an interview with Total Guitar, he stated, “I think it would be great. We did a lot of songs and with the benefit of not having done anything with those guys for so long, I can’t imagine what it would be. It would be a really amazing experience just to get back and work with the same guys again.” He went on to add, “They were great guys, and I really enjoyed the experience that I had with them, so yeah, I would always be open to doing something.”

Plus, it should be noted that Cornell turned up on the chart-topping Zac Brown Band single “Heavy Is the Head” from earlier this year and joined the group to perform it on Saturday Night Live.
