Dr. Dre’s classic 1992 album The Chronic celebrates its 24th anniversary today and fans are celebrating on Twitter.

For those who unfamiliar with this landmark recording, it’s an opus that introduced rap fans to a motley crew of spitters - D.O.C., Kurupt, Dat Nigga Daz Lady of Rage and RBX - but it was the languid rhymes of a slander MC named Snoop Doggy Dogg (aka Snoop Dogg) that became everyone’s favorite rap star. And of course, the music on the LP was fantastic. Produced entirely by Dr. Dre, the veteran producer gave us the influential G-Funk sound that mixes bass grooves, whining synthesizers over ‘70s funk samples. It's an infectious musical concoction that's still influencing today's West Coast producer and rappers.

The album’s hit singles like “Nuthin But a G Thang,” “Let Me Ride” and “F--- Wit Dre Day” are indelible G-Funk classics. But tracks like “Bitches Ain’t S---” and the posse track “Stranded on Death Row” made The Chronic unapologetically raw and bold.

On Thursday (Dec. 15), fans tweeted 24th birthday salutes to The Chronic and thanked Dr. Dre for producing an all-time classic hip-hop album.

"The chronic album older than some y'all wcw's that's wild," wrote one person. Another fan tweeted, "The Chronic was released today 24 years ago. Easily one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time. dre is the G O A T."

One user tweeted out this factoid: "@KendrickLamar says the first album he remembers being played all the way through in his household was @drdre's The Chronic."

However, some felt it was weird that folks were celebrating the album on its 24th birthday. "It's weird how Twitter arbitrarily celebrates musical anniversaries. 24 years ago today, The Chronic came out. Couldn't wait 1 more year?" questioned one fan.
