The death of George Michael has hit fans, loved ones, and the music industry pretty hard over the last couple of days. The legendary crooner tragically passed away this past weekend on Christmas Day, which was made to be even more saddening as one of his biggest songs, "Last Christmas," is a holiday classic. Despite the hard loss for his fans, Michael's legacy is already living to the fullest, as his streams have increased significantly on Spotify.

According to TMZ and Billboard, streams for the songwriter's solo records has increased by 3,158 percent after sources compared Sunday and Monday's numbers. Reports say that Michael's top 5 songs streaming on Spotify are currently "Last Christmas," "Careless Whisper," "Faither," "Freedom! 90," and "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go." This comes after the news that his remastered Faith album has earned the no. 5 spot on the iTunes U.S. album chart, while his other albums, Twenty Five and Ladies & Gentlemen, are both in the no. 12 and no. 14 slots.

Artists jumping on the charts following their tragic deaths has been a common event over the last few years. Not only did Prince and David Bowie top the charts in the midst of their sudden passings this year, but both Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston also took the top slots after their deaths in previous years.
