According to an article in the Dallas News, the state of Texas prohibits the sale of liquor on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.

What’s even more odd, is that if any of these holidays fall on a Sunday, then sales are banned on the following Monday.

This Texas law is called the ‘Sunday Rule’, and was created in 1935 in response to the repeal of prohibition.

Lawmakers added Christmas Day to the liquor sales ban in 1967, and Thanksgiving Day and New Year’s Day were added in 1979.

With that being said, and the history lesson over, just plan ahead if you want to add some liquor to your eggnog or hot chocolate over the holidays.

Cheers!
