Advertisers have hit on one simple trick: The impact of a great song, whether it's well-known or obscure, will turn heads.

So it's no surprise that they've turned to trusted power riffs more than a few times to get their point across. And who better to make the sell than the kings of the power riff the Kinks? They've been used in commercials before, and now one of their classic songs is showing up again.

In a new commercial for mattresses by Sleep Number, designed to promote the company's Memorial Day sale, the iconic riff from the Kinks' "All Day and All of the Night" loudly blasts from the speakers. A couple makes its way through the day after a good night's sleep, all thanks to their mattress. The classic Kinks cut underscores the whole day-and-night thing.

Released in late 1964, the Ray Davies-penned song followed up the Kinks' breakthrough hit "You Really Got Me." "All Day and All of the Night" hit the U.S. Top 10 and just missed the top slot in the band's native UK. Like so many of the early Kinks recordings, a Dave Davies powerhouse guitar riff stands front and center. More than 50 years later, the power of that riff still resonates, as this new commercial makes clear. You can watch it above.
