Although he’s gone, Prince’s music is still selling like hotcakes. The late music icon’s first posthumous release, a greatest-hits collection called Prince 4Ever, premiered at No. 80 on the Billboard 200 chart.

This marks the Purple One’s 40th charting album since his untimely death in April, according to Billboard. The collection moved 8,000 copies last week and earned 9,000 equivalent album units. The album was released on Nov. 22 (Tuesday) instead of the usual Friday release, which explains the early arrival on the charts with only two days of sales consumption.

Prince 4ever boasts 40 of Prince’s chart-topping hits. In addition, the album includes a 12-page booklet of never-before-seen photos of Prince shot by famed photographer Herb Ritts. More music is coming from Prince’s estate. A deluxe reissue of Purple Rain will be released in 2017. The classic 1984 album will be remastered and reportedly will include unreleased material that was scrapped from the original project.

Since Prince died on April 21, the musician's catalog of albums have sold 2.6 million in the U.S. Back in May, Prince had a record 19 albums charting back to back.

Clearly, fans are still snatching up as much Prince music as they can get their hands on. We are quite sure there will be an uptick in sales for his Purple Rain deluxe album when it drops in 2017.
