It has been called 'the world's oldest profession,' dating back as far as ancient Greece. The Greek word for prostitute is pornē, taken from the verb pernemi (to sell). Originally, in the 20th century, this profession was wildly legal in the United States. Between 1910 and 1915 in become illegal in almost all states due to the influence of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union.

There is a misunderstanding about prostitution when it come to Las Vegas and 'the Strip.'  In Clark County, which contains Vegas, 'the profession' is illegal, but out of the state's 16 counties, eight have active and legal brothels. Nevada's brothels have existed since the old mining days of the 1800's and were first licensed in 1971.

Now, with the history lesson out of the way, here are 5 songs that you didn't know were about 'the world's oldest profession.' I'm sure there are many, many more, but these are the most popular tunes that, at one time or another, were embraced by radio.
