Are the Gods looking down upon us today?  I don't know about you, but this is the time of year I start seriously worrying about finances.  With the holidays just around the corner and winter coming up, so many things require money.  When Xcel announced it was asking for a price increase, my heart dropped, just one more bill to go up.  However, that has changed.

Xcel announced today that it has withdrawn it's request for a temporary fuel surcharge.  They notified the Public Utility Commission of Texas that they are withdrawing their application.

The original request would have customers seeing a fuel cost surcharge on their October 1st bill.  This charge would have added $1.48 per month to a residential bill of 1,000 kilowatt-hours.

According to David Hudson, president of Xcel Energy - Texas:

“Our fuel accounts remain undercollected, but that deficit has narrowed enough since we announced the surcharge in June that we have decided it won’t be necessary to start the surcharge. We will continue to watch the fuel account and make necessary adjustments if the deficit widens.”

As of now you won't have to worry about your Xcel bill going up on October 1st.

So enjoy this good news on your Monday.
