If you're looking for a change in career, this could be for you.

Next month, on August 24 and 25, there will be a two-day phlebotomy course coming to Amarillo. If you're looking for a change in career, this could be something you might want to check out.

A phlebotomy technician is basically someone who draws your blood. That could be at a hospital, doctor's office, or a blood donation center...as an example. You get the idea.

Why this has me terrified.

The reason I'm terrified is that my wife, who I have only been married to now for a little over one week, told me this is something she has her eye on. That could potentially mean that I, as a loving and supportive husband, could become a pincushion.

I dated someone a long time ago whose sister was training to be a phlebotomist. The sister needed just a few more "pokes" before getting her certification, and I was drafted to help out.

Things were fine, until I stood up after the "procedure" was done. I promptly passed out, and urinated all over myself while unconscious.

This was in a room packed FULL of people. I had to be secretly led out of the back door in order to avoid any further damage to my already fragile ego.

Don't let my experience scare you.

Fortunately I survived, bought a pair of shorts from Walmart for the ride home, and never heard from that girlfriend again.

But don't let my story scare you off. If you don't mind the sight of blood, and you have a knack for dealing with people, this could be the opportunity you're waiting for.
