Amarillo has a few pet rescues. Why? Because for whatever reason there are a lot of people in Amarillo that don't take care of their pets. This is not just dogs. We also have cats that are overpopulated as well.

I have always thought having a pet was important. I have had dogs, cats, rabbits, turtles, lizards, and almost anything you can imagine. Pets have taught our family unconditional love. Nothing is better than coming home after a long day to a pet. They are so happy to see you.

They teach responsibility as well. They taught my daughter how much fun it is to get up in the middle of the night to take a puppy out to go to the bathroom. They taught her how fun it is to clean a litter box. Oh and how important it is to make sure they have food and water. A pet is very important.

Great families and great pets are the ultimate goal but unfortunately, that is not always the case. We have overpopulation. We have pets roaming the streets. We have animals not up to date with their vaccinations. We see pets out in the freezing cold and miserable heat. Unfortunately, that happens too.

So we have a lot of pet rescues that are trying to find good homes for the pets without one. These pet rescues count on donations and fundraisers to help them do the stuff they have to do for these pets.

It was heartbreaking to open up social media and see one upcoming event had absolutely no tickets sold for an upcoming pancake breakfast. I hope that has changed but it's this weekend and who doesn't like pancakes?

This event will be held at Applebee's on Soncy. You can purchase your tickets online HERE or show up on Saturday and enjoy some great pancakes.
