Every year Amarillo finds a time machine and takes a step back in time.  OK so maybe it isn't a time machine, but it will take you back in time.  It's the Nostalgic Polk Street Cruise.

Back in the day, Polk Street was the place to go and cruise.  It was the thing to do, Amarillo High School was located where the current Amarillo Senior Citizens Center is now and Polk Street was the place to be on a weekend night.  So many lifetime memories were made dragging Polk Street.  Now you can share those memories and make new ones.

The Nostalgic Polk Street Cruise will take place on Saturday, August 6th in Downtown Amarillo on Polk Street.  This will be the 13th year the Amarillo Area Corvette Club has hosted the event.

The event starts at 6pm and will last until 9pm.  Bring out the entire family and enjoy seeing how Amarillo cruised Polk Street back in the day.  You'll get to see some really amazing classic cars, hot rods and other vehicles.

The event is free of charge and open up the public.

Plus, if you would like to take part in the cruise, just show up and enter at 12th and Tyler and start cruising.  There is no registration or fee to drive your car in the event.

Plus, before the Nostalgic Polk Street Cruise, the Amarillo Senior Citizen Center is having a Chicken Fried Steak Dinner.  Cost for the meal is only $5.50.  They will be serving dinner until 7:30pm and everyone is invited.

Then after the dinner they will be serving root beer floats until 9pm.  Plus, they will be having a bake sale and silent auction.

So make a night of it in Downtown Amarillo and go back in time.
