If you have never heard of stein-holding, the US Steingholding Association explains it like this:

Steinholding is a traditional Bavarian strength contest in which competitors hold a full one-liter beer stein (or Masskrug/Mass in German) out in front of their bodies with a straight arm, parallel to the ground. You go as long as you can and the last man hoisting is the winner.

According to the association, each stein weighs approximately 5.5 lbs. The average man can last between 3 – 5 minutes. The average woman lasts approximately 1 – 2 minutes.

How hard can it be, honestly? I have signed up for my opportunity to show up and hoist. If you feel like stepping up to show your stein-hoisting ability, you can register at Bubba’s 33.

Registration will be at 6pm Thursday at Bubba’s 33. Hoisting will begin at 7pm.

I’ll see you there.
