Ever wanted to get lucky with a hot British medical student? Now’s your chance — but it’ll cost you.

Jodi Dixon, a med student at England’s University of Birmingham, wrote an article for the journal Student BMJ in which she highlighted a 2010 study showing 10% of British university students reported knowing a co-ed who’d worked as a prostitute or escort. That a 6% rise since 2006, an increase Dixon says corresponds with increases in school tuition.

She goes on to say medical students, who generally go to school longer, amass more debt and have less time to work while they’re in school, may be particularly prone to moonlighting as ladies of the evening.

Prostitution isn’t illegal in the U.K., but some related activities are, including soliciting sex. In other words, it’s okay to have sex for money, but you can’t ask someone to pay you for gettin’ busy. So many rules to remember! Dixon says the English Collective of Prostitutes, an organization that offers support for sex workers, has seen a rise in calls from students considering turning tricks, and that it even currently has med students on its rosters.

Next time you’re in Jolly Old England, you may be able to get your jollies in a whole new way. Just be careful asking her to play doctor. She might take the offer literally and there is nothing sexy about an impromptu prostate exam.
