The Buddy Holly Center in Lubbock will be showcasing a new exhibit beginning this weekend. The exhibit will commemorate the 60th anniversary of Buddy Holly's death.

The exhibition is titled "Buddy Holly: Life, Legend, Legacy." It will feature memorabilia and other items from Bill Griggs' collection. Griggs is not only a historian, but a Buddy Holly fan.

One item of particular interest in the exhibit is a booth from the Surf Ballroom. The Surf Ballroom would be the last place that Buddy Holly performed before the infamous plane crash that took his life.

Curator Curtis Peoples will be giving a talk about the exhibit at 2:30 PM as part of a weekend full of activities.

There are also gold records, ticket stubs, and reproductions of photographs as part of the exhibit. The exhibit will focus primarily on the moments just before the untimely death of Buddy Holly.

You can find a full list of events at the Buddy Holly Center website, BuddyHollyCenter.org.
