People always say that there isn't anything to do in the Amarillo area. And to be honest I don't even like to go out much to do the nothing that there is to do. I spend most of my free time home with my laptop. But, of course, there are those days when I don't want to stay in. And I'm not the go the club type of person. So here are some things you can do in Amarillo, for those who don't like to go out much, and aren't the clubbing type.

1.) Go Find A New Place To Eat

It's not always fun going to the same places to eat every time that you do go out. Even though Amarillo isn't as big as say Dallas, that doesn't meant that there aren't a lot different places to try. My roommate and I always look for a new place to eat every time we come to Amarillo. We prefer to look for new Asian food restaurants, but there are many other places out there in Amarillo for you to try. Just look around when you are out and about in Amarillo, look up new place online, or even ask your friends for places they have been.

2.) Take A Trip To The Canyon

Some days it's nice to get out and spend some time in the sun. Maybe get a little tan, soak in the vitamin d. For those days where you don't necessarily want to go into the city for some fun you can go out to Palo Duro Canyon and take a hike, have a picnic, go horse back riding, or if you are the adventurous type you can even go zip lining! Perhaps you are willing to take a little drive, maybe spend the weekend out in the open? Then you can take a trip to Caprock Canyons State Park where you can hike, camp, go boating, fish, swim and spend a great time outdoors.

3.) Go To The Movies In The Afternoon

Everyone likes a good movie, but it's not always that fun to get to the theater and it be packed with people. I'm not saying that I don't like people, I just don't like there to be a lot of people around when I am watching a movie. There are many pluses for afternoon movie viewing, finding parking is a breeze, there are no real lines when you buy tickets or get snacks, and you can pick the best seat in the house! There are considerably less people going to the movies in the afternoon. It's even better when the theater is empty and you can watch a good movie with your friends or family like it's in your own living room, just much, much, bigger.

4.) Get A Pedicure

This is for everyone out there. Go get a pedicure! It's an amazing experience. You get to get your legs and feet massaged, moisturized, have all the dead skin scrubbed, and have your toenails clipped and shaped. Now guys, I know what you are thinking, that's girly. Trust me, there is nothing girly about getting your legs and feet massaged. You don't have to get your toenails painted, you can just get the basics while you sit in a massage chair. My brother was a bit leery about getting one too, and after it was over he said he would do it again. So guys don't be afraid of the pedicure and go get one with your friends.

5.) Go Shopping Somewhere Other Than The Mall

There are many other great shopping place in Amarillo that aren't the mall. If you detest the mall or just don't like the crowds of the mall you can go shopping at some of the other shopping centers around Amarillo, like Wolflin Square or Georgia Street Mall. You can take a trip to 6th street and look around the antique stores. And if you can brave it maybe even hit the flea market.

Like I said earlier, Amarillo may not be Dallas big, but it is big. There are things out there to do. You don't have to be stuck doing the same things each time you go out. You are not limited to the things everyone else does. There are new adventures to be had in Amarillo. Just look around, find a new place to visit, and go.
