The Canyon population on the 4th of July will swell from 13,300 to over 50,000 for one of the largest Independence Day celebrations in Texas according to the Canyon Chamber of Commerce.

The celebration begins Tuesday, July 3, with an outdoor concert at the First United Bank Center featuring the Josh Abbott Band of Lubbock and local band Next to Kin as the opening act.

Fourth of July festivities begin with Lions Club’s annual pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the Cole Community Center, and several other events throughout until the spectacular fireworks in Connor Park at 10 p.m.

The parade will go from east to west through the city of Canyon. It will begin at the First United Bank Center on the east end of WTAMU. The parade will then travel down 4th Avenue ending just past Canyon's downtown square, approximately 11th Street.

When the downtown activities end at 3 p.m., visitors are welcome to move to Connor Park to picnic or enjoy the Canyon Aqua Park for free.

Music begins at 6 p.m. and food will be available at food trucks.
