Great News for Amarillo’s Westgate Mall and Movie Lovers Combined

It's been years since Amarillo could go to Westgate Mall and catch a good movie. I mean years. I remember going there a lot. Catching a movie and doing some shopping. Or dropping my daughter off to watch a movie while I shopped.

Do you remember where the side entrance is to go into the mall to access the theater? I know I felt special when I learned about that entrance. It was like I knew a secret. Yes, a secret that most of Amarillo knew I bet.

Oh, but then the theater went dark. There went one more place to catch a flick.

Good News is That is About to Change

I couldn't believe it when I heard the news. We are getting a movie theater back in Westgate Mall and soon. I had to reach out to a friend of mine at the mall for confirmation. I mean I think this is great news and I wanted to make sure it was correct.

She let me know that my information was good and she was currently reading an email from the new owner. So yes, Westgate Mall is getting a movie theater again, and as I said soon.

It's not going to be a dollar movie theater anymore. Nope, they are not going to show old movies or movies on their way out. This is going to be owned by Scene One Entertainment (formerly Bow Tie Management) and they will open the theater showing first-run movies - the latest in Hollywood features.

This will be the first theater for the New York-based Scene One to operate in the State of Texas. Look at that, Amarillo is getting something first. This is good news.

According to Scene One Entertainment owner and CEO, Joe Masher:

We’re excited to reopen this theater in Amarillo’s premiere shopping destination.  Westgate Mall is the perfect place to open our first theater in Texas and we look forward to expanding our footprint here in the Lone Star State.

 

Scene One also makes it affordable for families by offering their "Family 4-Pack".  This makes it possible for a family of four to get four tickets, one large popcorn, and two large fountain beverages for one low price.

Are you ready to see a movie again out at Westgate Mall? Well, they are looking to open towards the end of this month. This month. Not a long wait like most things in Amarillo.

Do you remember how to get into the mall from the parking lot? You know with that long hallway walk to get to the  theater entrance? You are going to need that information again. Amarillo should be excited about that.
