Lady Gaga Officially Confirmed For Bradley Cooper’s ‘A Star Is Born’ Remake

It’s official. Lady Gaga will have a bad romance with Bradley Cooper in the long-developing remake of A Star Is Born, which also marks the directorial debut of Cooper. It was first reported back in June that the actor was looking to cast the pop star and burgeoning actress in the film, which has now been given a formal green light from Warner Bros.

Deadline reports that WB has locked Lady Gaga down to star opposite Cooper in A Star Is Born, which is actually the third remake of the classic story about a talented singer on the rise who falls for her washed-up mentor. Cooper has been attached to star in the project since 2012, when the studio wanted Beyonce to play the female lead. Clint Eastwood flirted with the idea of helming the remake, but Cooper ultimately claimed the director’s chair for himself.

The pair reportedly had excellent chemistry in their screen tests, and Lady Gaga left quite an impression on WB execs. The musician recently began to explore her career as an actor, making her debut in last year’s American Horror Story: Hotel. Gaga’s starring role in the fifth season of the Ryan Murphy anthology series earned her a Golden Globe award; she was also nominated for an Oscar earlier this year for her original song “’Til It Happens to You,” for the documentary The Hunting Ground.

Gaga delivered a delightfully campy performance punctuated with some great dramatic moments on American Horror Story, and it’ll be interesting to see the pop star expand her range on the big screen — if nothing else, we know the songs will be fantastic.
