Beginning this weekend on March 8, and going through the rest of the month, musicians from all over will be invading 6th street for SXSJ.

Pretty much everyone is familiar with SXSW that takes place every year in Austin. It is a massive festival that celebrates music, film, and other forms of media.

We in Amarillo have our own festival, SXSJ, that lasts for the entire month of March that features musicians making their way to and from SXSW.

Golden Light, Leftwoods, and 806 Coffee open their doors for the month and offer you the opportunity to discover music that is new to you, or see some of your favorites, as they all head to, and from, SXSW.

I've said it before, and I'll probably say it a million more times; if you think there is nothing going on in Amarillo besides watching some brainless network TV schlock from the comfort of your couch...you couldn't be any more wrong.

This city is vibrant, and there is always some new experience to be had. I'm personally planning on getting out and enjoying SXSJ this year. This will be my first year checking it out, and honestly, it beats sitting at home listening to canned laughter and complaining that there's nothing to do.
