If you have purchased ground beef recently you need to check this out.

This is one of the biggest recalls on ground beef in a long time. Cargill Meat Solutions out of San Antonio are responsible for a majority of our ground beef in Amarillo. This week they are recalling more than 130,000 pounds of ground beef due to possible E. coli contamination.

According to healthlife.com E. coli side effects include:

  • abdominal cramping.
  • sudden, severe watery diarrhea that may change to bloody stools.
  • gas.
  • loss of appetite or nausea.
  • vomiting (uncommon)
  • fatigue.
  • fever.
  • and even kidney failure

These effects typically last up to 8 days. Clearly, it something you don't want. As your mom always said, "better safe than sorry."

So if you have bought ground beef locally from chains like Sam's Club, Target, or Albertsons, take it back immediately.
