Sammy Hagar is one popular guy in the city of Roseville, Calif. The irrepressible rocker has made such an outstanding contribution to Roseville that the town has decided to honor him by declaring Sept. 15, 2012 Sammy Hagar Day.

The celebration coincides with the opening of Hagar’s restaurant and entertainment venue, Sammy’s Rockin’ Island Bar & Grill, in downtown Roseville. Brian Jacobsen with the City of Roseville tells Patch.com it’s an opportunity for the city to thank the Red Rocker. “Downtown is a big priority for the city, and this is a big event,” he says.

The Roseville Patch reports that the 10,000 square foot space features an island motif, with walls painted aqua, orange, lime green, pink and purple. The menu has a pan-Asian influence and features burgers, seafood, sushi, pasta and salads. There is a full bar with a wine list and draft beer. The space also boasts a crudo raw bar, which features sushi with island spices.

Hagar is slated to perform live at the restaurant at an invitation-only event on Sept. 15, when the city will also present him with a gift. The Chickenfoot front man hopes to raise between $25,000 and $30,000 for five local non-profit organizations. Though that event is not open to the general public, fans still have a chance to attend by winning tickets from the local classic rock station, or by purchasing a restaurant gift card or VIP tickets.

Sammy’s Rockin’ Island Bar & Grill will hold a grand opening on Saturday, Sept. 22.
