Food stamps are a way to help out families that need it.  They provide a way for parents or grandparents to feed the children in the home.  But should food stamps be limited to certain items?

I am a total supporter of food stamps.  Yes, some people abuse them but there are some people who legitimately need them.  I don't think we should punish everyone.  I do, however, think that there should be better guidelines to follow.

Over the weekend, I walked into a store and saw a huge bin of Easter baskets that had a sticker on them that said 'We Welcome Food Stamp Shoppers."  At first, I was shocked.  Since when are Easter baskets considered food?  But the more I thought about it, the more comfortable I became with the idea.

I have heard so many stories of people abusing food stamps.  Food stamps are suppose to be for the kids.  To feed them and make sure they grow up healthy.  Well, when it comes to buying Easter baskets with food stamps, I am looking at it from the optimistic view.

If a mother or father can't afford to buy food for their family, then they probably can't afford to buy Easter baskets for them either.  Why should they not be able to celebrate Easter like the other kids?

I am totally ok with this.  It is going to the kids and allowing them to have a fun time.  Little exceptions like this are acceptable.  What do you  think?
