In Apple's latest venture they have updated the iBooks app to the iBooks2 app. They have previously sold fiction, non-fiction and novels through the app, but never text books.

This is a free app, and is only available to Apple i devices. All text books will be $14.99 or less which is a huge discount from the fees that college book stores currently sell them for.

Besides the price, people are also very excited about the interactivity of the iBooks platform for educational purposes.

Apple stated that the iBooks app offers much more engagement than standard text based books. They touted the easily searchable platform and easy highlight capability. They also boasted the live diagrams and 3-D modeling used in the iBooks app.

"Now with iBooks 2 for iPad, students have a more dynamic, engaging and truly interactive way to read and learn, using the device they already love," said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
